Ben Frost & Richard Hough have been working together long enough to know what each other is thinking, and still be surprised by it. In 2015, they adapted A CHRISTMAS CAROL for The Castle Theatre, Wellingborough (directed by Luke Sheppard); and were commissioned by producer James Seabright to write THE SORCERER’S APPRENTICE. Early in 2017, a concert version of SORCERER’S was performed at the Ambassador’s Theatre, London (directed by Ryan McBryde); a fully staged version is being programmed for next year. Additionally, Frost & Hough are currently working on a new musical adaptation of OUR MAN IN HAVANA (for the Watermill Theatre, Newbury), and an original one-woman show (about the woman who brought down the President of the United States) called SIN.
Ben has written scores for original musicals and several short films, and his orchestrations and arrangements are regularly performed in the concert hall and in theatres. Ben was mentored by Andrew Lloyd Webber, and worked closely on the original productions of LOVE NEVER DIES, THE WIZARD OF OZ, and the JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR Arena Tour. He has also contributed arrangements to London and tour productions of THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA, CATS, TELL ME ON A SUNDAY, STARLIGHT EXPRESS and THE SOUND OF MUSIC.
Richard has written for the stage, television and radio and has seen his work in print. His TV credits include comedy for the BBC (REVOLVER and THE SACK RACE) and factual entertainment for FIVE (DUMBER & DUMBER). He has written extensively for BBC Radio, contributing to LOOSE ENDS, THE NEWS QUIZ and THE NOW SHOW. He developed a sitcom called MAD ABOUT THE BOY and co-created a sketch-show (THE CHILLER CABINET). His plays include NIGHTSCHOOL,THREESOME and MURDER ON ICE.
